Saturday 1, Sunday 2 and Tuesday 4 of July from 11 AM to 4 PM!\nWhy does the House of Spain (HOS) celebrate the Independence of the United States?\nMost people do not know that without the help of Spain during the Revolutionary War, George Washington and the fathers of the American revolution would have not been able to defeat Great Britain.\nCome to the HOS and we, along with members of the Sons of the American Revolution, will explain and show you books, pictures and letters of Spain’s involvement in the American Revolutionary War and the reason why most of this was done in secret. Things like:\n\nGeorge Washington knew that without Spain’s help he could not win the Revolution.\nThomas Jefferson’s letter, dated 8 November 1779, thanking Bernardo de Galvez and the King of Spain for their help, loans and supplies.\nThe first U.S. dollar was a Spanish coin (used for over 60 years). Learn about the Dollar, Half-dollar, Quarters, and pieces of eight or bits (two-bits is a quarter).\nThe first U.S. treaty was with Spain and was signed on 27 of October 1795.\nA replica of the painting honoring Bernardo de Galvez, Honorary Citizen of the United States of America, is hanging in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee room — S-116 — in the Capitol Building in Washington DC.\nUniforms, muskets, bayonets of the era.\nMaps of the United States in 1763 (three quarters of the land was New Spain)\nThe financial support provided by Spain credit for which was given to France.\nThe French fleet, under the command of Comte de Grasse was not able to pay its sailors and soldiers, so Spain provided de Grasse with the needed funds, thus enabling the siege at Yorktown against Cornwallis.\nMost people think that the American Revolution was fought and won only in the colonies, in Boston and New York, but the truth is that it was also fought and won along the Mississippi River and the Gulf Coast with a culminating, decisive battle at Pensacola by the Spanish led by General Bernado de Galvez along with 7,500 Spanish troops!  Come and find out why. \n\nPlease, come with your questions and your camera so you can take lots of photos.\n
